ASEAN Immersion Programme 2017 (AIP)

Background

In November 2013, Minister Heng Swee Keat (then Minister for Education), launched the HCS GIP and appointed a taskforce headed by MOS (then MTI) Teo Ser Luck, comprising industry leader. The objective was to enable companies to upgrade their manpower, business and organisational capabilities in preparation for internationalisation.

The GIP was specially designed to enable businesses, in particular SMEs to attain the necessary skills, mindset and knowledge in order for them to be competitive internationally. Unlike existing immersion programmes, the GIP will focus its efforts to facilitate the overseas expansion of businesses and train a pool of Singaporean executives and managers who are able to lead such efforts.

HCS GIP leverages on “HCS Inside” – combining the 9 years of lifelong training and consulting work within the local context, especially Singapore SMEs.

Since 2013, HCS has organised GIP learning journeys to Taiwan, Shenzhen – Washington D.C. (under the HCS – Georgetown University Advanced Professional Qualification track) and Chongqing.

The GIP has evolved to the ASEAN Immersion Programme (AIP) in support of the recommendations of the Committee on the Future Economy (CFE) to deepen and diversify Singapore’s international connections, develop skills for market expansion and acquire knowledge of overseas market, especially in the ASEAN market.
